Southern District host their Charity Soap Box Challenge
on Sunday 3rd September at High Haume Farm in Dalton-on-Furness by kind permission of Southern District President, Mr Phil Slater. Young farmers from 7 of the District’s clubs called on their creativity and technical know how to create some amazing soap boxes which made for a very entertaining day.
The seniors started the day off with some brilliant races, followed by the juniors who flew down the course in record time! With over 20 races, it kept everyone busy all day and thanks must go to the judges, Southern District President, Phil Slater and Advisory Member, Amy Hardy and stewards Southern District Vice President, Stephen Park, Cumbria YFC County Chair, William Longmire and Crook YFC member, Tim Horsfall who kept the day running smoothly and to time.
A great day was had by all, and the Southern District is excited to ensure that the Soap Box Challenge becomes a regular event raising funds for the District and providing a great day out that can be enjoyed by young farmers of all ages.
Organiser and Southern District Chair, Chloe Dawson commented “A massive thank you to all the sponsors who have donated generously, we couldn’t run such great events without this support! Thanks must also go to Furness YFC for setting up the excellent course, running the food stand all day and for clean up afterwards”.
