Target smashed!

Congratulations to Kent Estuary Members, who have smashed their target and raised over £2,200 for Cancer Research by taking part in Manchester Pretty Muddy 5k 2023.

One members parent carries a gene mutation called MEN1 (Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia 1) which is a variation of cancer, consisting of either benign or malignant tumours, which attack the endocrine (hormone) system; the pancreas, pituitary, thyroid etc.  The family have been so lucky to have access to such great care from Doctors at The Christie, whose efforts in discovering the disease, treating it and find the cure are funded by Cancer Research.  The members recent results of her MRI scans show that, as of now, she is tumour free.  Whilst this is the most amazing news, it doesn’t allow her to lose sight of the fact that her family has not been so lucky.

The 5k Pretty Muddy course took in a scenic route of Heaton Park, Prestwich, Manchester. The terrain was a mixture of grass and paths and undulating in parts. The course was mainly flat however, there were two inclines, one near the start and another towards the middle end. The route was mainly on paths, however, the event site was on grass.

There was a mixture of obstacles along the way including inflatables, climbing, crawling and mud!
