Twenty teams of very keen young farmers gathered on one of the hottest days of the year at The Cumberland Show for Tug of War County Final Competition on Saturday 10th June.

Competition was fierce, with teams from both the Northern and Southern Districts testing their strength against each other. Competitors were cheered on by their fellow young farmers and supporters who gathered to watch, creating an exciting and at times tense atmosphere at this very popular competition final.

Greysouthen YFC ladies team fought hard to take first place against second place Pennine YFC. Third place went to Sedbergh YFC. Grayrigg YFC were 4th and 5th place went to Drigg YFC. Joint 6th went to Eden Valley and Wigton YFCs. This was the third year in a row that the Greysouthen YFC Ladies team had triumphed and the team were delighted to win once again.

The competition between Raughton Head and Penrith YFCs to take first place in the Men’s team was fiercely fought, with Raughton Head taking the upper hand and claiming first place and Penrith YFC placed second. Third place went to Eden Valley YFC and Grayrigg YFC were placed 4th with Crook YFC placed 5th.

The mixed Juniors competition was won by Grayrigg YFC, with Penrith YFC placed second. Third and fourth place went to Sedbergh and Greysouthen YFCs respectively. Well done to Drigg, Eden Valley, Pennine and Wigton YFCs who also took part in the competition.
