Sarah Stobart – Membership & Marketing Steering Group Chair

After two years leading the Membership & Marketing Steering Group, Sarah is hoping to end her tenure on a high – delivering the first ever YFC Achiever Awards ceremony. Sarah shares her experience in the role and encourages other YFC members to consider these positions.

Why did you want to be a Steering Group Chair for your group?

At my first ever NFYFC Council weekend I was elected as Vice Chair of the Membership & Marketing Steering Group, not knowing that I would go on to do two years as its Chair!

I wanted to make a difference and to take ideas from grassroots members and make them happen on a national level. I didn’t think I would be confident enough to chair meetings at national council but I’ve loved it. It's an honour to deliver our group's report at the Council meetings and let everyone know what we've discussed and what we’d like to happen to make YFC the best it can be for each and every member. I’m grateful for the opportunity and I have loved my time as Chair.

What has been your group's greatest achievement in the last year?

In the last year without a doubt the greatest achievement is bringing the YFC Achiever Awards evening to life, and I am so proud that our Steering Group has made that happen. I just hope it’s as amazing as we've planned!

Would you recommend being a Steering Group Chair to others?

Absolutely. It’s a string to my bow that I never expected. I’ve met like-minded people from all over the country that love YFC as much as I do. It has been a great achievement to say I’ve chaired meetings at a national level and stood up in front of the NFYFC Council to give our group report – it’s something I never thought I would be capable of doing. It’s true what they say ‘the more you put into YFC, the more you get out.’

As I step down as Chair after two years, I can be proud of my personal achievements and how the group has developed in my three years being involved in it. Long may it continue!
