 Performing Arts County Finals

Theatre by the Lake once again hosted the Cumbria YFC performing arts county finals on Saturday 10th February. The auditorium was filled with an eager audience who had gathered to watch those taking part in the Drama, Disco Dancing and Show Choir competitions. Friends, family and supporters watched with delight as the young farmers show cased their talents.

Caldbeck YFC were first to take to the stage, dancing with enthusiasm and joy, to a dance routine produced and choreographed by Mia to a “Blame it on the Boogie” dance mix.

Next up were Raughton Head YFC’s team of 11 junior members who grooved to both classic and modern dance numbers. The choreography, music and lights had all been designed and produced by the club and those taking part in the dance routine had also organised their own costumes and hair.

Raughton Head YFC’s very own Robbie Tuer took centre stage before the interval and delighted the audience with his accomplished rendition of two Cumbrian dialect poems. Robbie is a natural dialect speaker and the audience showed their appreciation of his talents through much laughter and applause.

Following a Friends of Cumbria draw carried out by Cumbria YFC County Chair, Charlotte Wilson and President John Garnett and a short intermission, Crook YFC took to the stage to perform their drama “10 Ways to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse” Written and directed by Crook YFC. The young cast gave their all to this innovative and well written production giving stellar performances throughout.

Penrith YFC were the final club on stage, with their accomplished Show Choir. The choir delighted the audience with their beautiful performance of “Pointless” by Lewis Capaldi and “Wake Me Up” by Avicci. A truly talented group of singers, Penrith YFC showed what hard work and practice can achieve.

After a short interval and a raffle, the judges Mrs Andrea Stones and Ms Patzi Stones for Disco Dancing, Mr Roger Bainbridge and Mr Graham Holliday for Drama and Miss Sophie Brooksbank and Mrs Amanda Paisley for Show Choir made their way onto the stage to give their placings. After commenting individually on the performances and giving some very positive and helpful feedback the judges announced the following results:
