On Sunday 21st July, Cumbria Young Farmers travelled to Skipton Auction Mart to compete in the Northern Area Stockjudge and Young Stockjudge of the Year competition, with some excellent results.
Kirsty Errington, of Greysouthen YFC won overall in the Stockman of the Year Competition, with Mark Curr, Pennine YFC, 7th and Laurie Brunskill, Brampton YFC, 10th.
In the Young Stockjudge of the Year competition, for junior members, Adam Brown of Greysouthen YFC was placed 3rd overall in the individual competition, with Joe Kidd, Skelton 10th and Matthew Kidd, Penrith, 12th overall.
In the team competition, the Cumbria C team came 3rd, Cumbria, A 4th and Cumbria B, 5th overall.
Laurie Brunskill of Brampton Young Farmers commented “It was a really good day. 24 Young Farmers from Cumbria competed against Young Farmers from the 6 Northern Counties – 96 competitors in total. We judged pigs, ewes, dairy and beef and answered an animal health questionnaire”.
Kirsty Errington and Adam Brown will now compete in the National Final at Harper Adams College on 7th and 8th of September.
