250 Cumbrian Young Farmers travelled to Durham at the weekend to compete against 11 teams from the 6 Northern Counties in a variety of sports, speaking and drama competitions and came away with a host of trophies.
Cumbria won both the Senior Member of the Year, Craig Brough, Raughton Head YFC and Junior Member of the Year, Amy Swinbank, Eden Valley YFC. Raughton Head had a tremendous weekend also winning both the After Dinner Speaking competition and the Five a side Football .
Caldbeck YFC won the Junior Public Speaking, Kirklinton the Cheerleading competition and Lowick YFC the Ultimate Frisbee.

The final competition result of the day was Drama and a hall packed with Cumbrians nearly took the roof of when Brampton YFC were placed first with Drigg second. Best actor over the 2 days of drama went to Joe Bowman, Brampton and best actress Molly Simcock of Drigg YFC.

Even better news was to come when the Cumbria A team were announced overall winners on 122 points, second Cumbria B 118 points, third Yorkshire A 112 points and fourth Cumbria C 100 points.

The Junior Speaking and After Dinner Speaking teams now go to the National Regional Final at Retford on the 23rd March and the 2 dramas will be there on 24th March.

The Cheerleading, Ballroom and Member of the Year Competitions go to the National Finals at the Annual Convention at Blackpool on 4th and 5th May. The National Finals of all the other competitions will be at Stafford on 6th and 7th July.
