Head YFC Dinner Dance on 28th January at the Greenhill Hotel. ALL MEMBERS, FAMILY & FRIENDS WELCOME (under 16’s to be accompanied by an adult)! Tickets £25, 3 Course Meal and Disco, Black-tie optional. Tickets for arrival after 10pm are available at £10 each.
Also on the night; an auction of promises and drawing of the Winter Draw in aid of Farm Crisis Network & Wish Upon A Star, top prize £100 cash, tickets £1 each from senior members of the Club.

Lots of laughter accompanied the Young Farmers’CountyFinalof the Just a Minute Competition. Contestants had to speak for a minute on a huge variety of topics, for example, fish pedicures, winter tyres, how to ice a birthday cake, without hesitation, repetition of deviation.
Raughton Head’s team of Lisa Bowe, Suzanne Pollock, Emma Salthouse and Josie Richardson proved to be the best talkers and were presented with first certificates by judge, Nick Utting. Grayrigg A were placed second and Grayrigg B third.
These 3 teams will compete against the 6 Northern Counties at Northern Area Weekend in Bridlington on 3rd March.
The Northern District of Cumbria YFC held their AGM at the Greenhill Hotel to a packed audience of
over 250 people.
President, David Hurst, chaired the meeting and said it had been a great honour and pleasure to be part of
YFC again over the last year. He had been particularly impressed by the standard of the Junior
Competitions and the enthusiasm and hard work put into charity fund-raising.
Chairman David Norman, presented the Annual Report which highlighted an excellent competition year
where both Caldbeck and Raughton Head YFC’s had competed in National Finals with Caldbeck winning
Junior Public Speaking, Senior Floral Art and National Cookery. The District had again increased its’
membership. Membership numbers have increased every year since 2000.
Treasurer, Lindsay Marrs, reported a slight loss in the accounts, but much energy had gone into raising
money for the Great North Air Ambulance this year.
The Young Farmers then proposed their new officers for the year as follows: – President Ms. Clare
Johnson, Longtown, Vice-President, Mrs Alison Burbury, Raughton Head, Chairman, Ms Lesley Pigg,
Wigton, Vice-Chairman, Edwin Holliday, Aspatria, Treasurer, Mrs Lindsay Marrs, Armstrong Watson,
Social & Competitions Secretary, Julie Jenkinson, Drigg and Minutes Secretary, Amanda Jackson,
Skelton.
Trophies presented on the night were: – Becklees Trophy for the Best Winter Competition results -[SinglePic not found]
Kirklinton YFC The Alan Bowe Trophy for the Young Farmers of The Year was presented to Graham
Denby of Long town YFC and the Willie Whiteford Trophy for the Best Club went to Egremont YFC
