 436 Young Farmers entered the Cumbria YFC quiz competition and after 4 eliminating rounds and 400 questions, the final 8 teams met at the Stoneybeck Inn , Penrith for theCountyFinal.

  The Young Farmers answered questions on general knowledge, countryside knowledge, entertainment, sport and news with team rounds on Islands of theUKand identifying animal footprints.

In the Junior quiz Lyvennet YFC were leading as they went into the final buzzer round. However the buzzer round completely changed the quiz around with Lowick’s team of April Higgin, Ben and Emma Cooper and Ellie Lowery winning the competition. Skelton came second, Caldbeck third and Lyvennet 4th. Lowick were presented with theCumberland and Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart Trophies. .

 In the Senior quiz Aspatria C’s team of Paul Storr, Mark Hurst, Philip Mattinson andEdwin Hollidayled throughout and were very cool during the buzzer round. Aspatria C were presented with Carrs Billington winners tankards with Aspatria A placed second and Grayrigg and Lowick tying at third place.

 Paul Storr thanked the judges Nick Utting and Pat Bell for an excellent evening and the quiz panel for some very difficult questions.

23 teams of 4 Young Farmers competed in the Carrs Billington Challenge, hosted at Harrison and Hetherington Auction Mart.

 The teams had a hectic night, playing 23, five minute games which included, bat the rat, bucking bronco and how many pegs you can peg on a team members face – 100 apparently!

 Ian Oliver, Divisional Sales Manager of Carrs Billington presented the winners’trophy to Pennine Y.F.C. who accumulated 1399 points. Carlislewere 2nd on 1347 points with Skelton and Kirklinton close behind on 1336 and 1334 points.

 Mark Curr of Pennine Y.F.C. thanked all the stewards provided by Carrs Billington and Y.F.C. and the organisers, Claire Todd, Gary Mason, Nick Buckley and Andrew Carrie  for creating such a fun – packed evening. He also thanked Carrs Billington and H and H for their continued support of such a popular event.
