Help the Great North Air Ambulance

To all Young Farmers
With all the recent disasters in Cumbria over the last year the Great North Air Ambulance has been needed more than ever. Not just for the farming and rural communities but the county as a whole. We believe this charity is more helpful to Cumbria than most other Counties.
Over the next year Cumbria Young Farmers intend to raise as much money for the Great North Air Ambulance as possible. To do this we need your help. We intend to do various events both in the North and South District as well as together.
We have started to organise some events already that will be our main fundraisers. These include a full Monty night some time during winter, a “club to club bed push relay”, and a Grand Ball on August bank holiday 2011. We need your help in participating in these events as well as helping organising your own.
We are hoping every club will organise their own events and put the money in the “Pot”. If this is successful we are hoping to have a charity cup for the year (club raising the most individual money for a charity).
One event we are hoping to do fairly soon is a calf rearing competition. This is where clubs buy a calf on a set date from H&H (October/November) and sell it again on a set date at H&H (March/April). There will be prizes for the best dressed, most weight gain and biggest profit increase. The idea would be that every club (if willing) would buy a calf and make a profit. Every club that makes a profit will get their initial purchase fee back. The club that made the most profit would keep their profit and the rest would go to charity. For this to be a success we would need to know if your club would be willing to participate? We would need to know soon to advertise this through the auction.
Could you please let us know by 20th September if your club is interested so we can start organising this.
